Evolution of a Rhinoplasty Master: An Interview with Dean Toriumi, MD.

Interview by John S. Rhee Editor-in-Chief

Dr. Dean Toriumi: My motivation for this article was primarily to try to help rhinoplasty surgeons navigate through the various rhinoplasty techniques that are available to them today. It is very confusing to surgeons who are investigating new techniques and philosophies. In this article, I really tried to provide some clarity on the goals of tip surgery and principles of management.

Structure Rhinoplasty: Lessons Learned in 30 Years.

A Book Written by Dr. Toriumi

This three-volume book is based on 30 years of experience with Structure Rhinoplasty chronicling changes made in the technique based on favorable and unfavorable outcomes. This book is not meant to be a comprehensive rhinoplasty text but actually is a running commentary on how I have dealt with undesirable outcomes and how I have taken the initiative to change my technique to improve my outcomes. Rhinoplasty has been a life-long passion of mine and this collection of observations provides insight into how I came to my present techniques and philosophy for performing rhinoplasty.
